The hori knife appeared in Japan around the Middle Ages, in the 13th or 14th century. In Japanese, the word "Hori" literally means "to dig". Its curved blade allows to dig or to cut. It is razor sharp and serrated to allow cutting of roots, even in hard soil. It is at the same time a knife, a saw, a tool for digging, transplanting, furrowing or even measuring depths and spacing for planting bulbs (in cm and inches).
This knife is made of high quality steel, with a beechwood handle and a sheath.
